Information about Motor Mom Program:

Many children in today's society experience difficulty with motor skills. These problems may stem from too much video entertainment, too little outdoor play, inactive lifestyles, birth trauma, chronic ear infections, or lack of experience playing with play dough, puzzles, blocks, etc.

LCS utilizes a Motor Moms Program in the preschool and kindergarten classes, which is designed to help improve these motor skills. Volunteer parents are trained to run the Motor Moms program. The large motor activities that the children participate in are designed to help children who have problems in the following areas:

  • Sitting still
  • Maintaining attention in the classroom
  • Balance problems
  • Trouble using both sides of their body in coordinated movement
  • Understanding their body position in space

The Motor Moms program also helps children who have problems with the following visual skills: tracking, convergence, depth perception, directionality, and hand-eye coordination.
